Abstract

Retail industry are facing continuous and unparalleled changes. For organizations to support employees in being motivated and prepared for change, it is important that leaders, managers and organizational development professionals understand the individual and organizational factors that contribute to the readiness for change This study was conducted with a main objective to investigate the relationship of employee commitment, communication and leadership styles with readiness for change in Retail Industry in Kuching, Sarawak. Through this quantitative study, simple random sampling is used. Apart from that, questionnaire is used in data collection and analysed by using four chosen statistical methods which are Independent Sample T-Test, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression. The results showed that there is significant relationship of employee commitment, communication and leadership styles with readiness for change includes its sub-factors. Communication is the best predictor among three main factors. This paper contributes to the knowledge and implications of organizational change, as the management will understand the variable that has the strongest impact to readiness for change.
