Abstract

The culture of Chinese zodiac in a contemporary all has been carried out. Chinese zodiac, also known as ·Sheng Xiao· is the 12 animals that are traditiona lly used by Chinese pcople to calculate the cycle of· 12 years. E::ach animal represents a single year in thai cycle. This research is to study the potential of Chinese zodiac in contemporary artwork. The expectation of the result is to ensure the inheritance of this special Chine se tradition. This can also help the new generation in understanding their cultural of Chinese zodiac. Contemporary art method has been used in the presentation of the artwork because it allows the audience to encounter with Chinese zodiac and know more about the potential of Chin<:se zodiac. This research also aims to create the awareness of the Chine se people to preserve the meaning, cullure and value of Chinese zodiac.
