Abstract

A total number of 32 individuals of shrimp samples were collected during the study which comprises 3 different species that are Alpheus sp, Palaemonetes sp and Squilla sp. The study was conducted at Sampadi Island, Sarawak where the sampling was done on October, 2012 and April 2013. About 22 individual of shrimps were used for morphology study among those species. The morphometric measurements considered include total body length (TBL), carapace length (CL), telson length (TL) and weight. The morphology study was carried through observation and discussed based on the appropriate past literature. For the stomach content analysis the Alpheus sp was chosen due to majority of the species found. 10 of the individuals of Alpheus sp were used for the analysis. In this study, the feature of those species mainly can be differentiated via telson shape, their chela (claw/cheliped) size and rostrum character. Their size also varies between another where Squilla sp has the longest TBL compared to the others. The stomach content analysis resulted that the Alpheus sp consumed plant fraction as their main food.
