Abstract

Kelampayan or its specific name, Neolamarckia from tribe Nauc\eeae are the most famous and well known because of have been long controversial and unsettle about genetic limits. There are two species of Kelampayan which are Neolamarckia cadamba and Neolamarckia macrophylla. Both of this species are not easy to differentiate as they have very close similarity in their vegetative characters. The objectives of this study are to identify genotype of Neolamarckia species using :\113 universal primer and to determine the genetic relatedness between Neolamarckia species. The good quality of gcnomic DNA was extracted from Neolamarckia species by using modified CT AB extraction method. The genotyping of Neolamarckia species was carried out by using PCR with M13 universal primer. The genotyping profiles generated from different samples ofN. cadamba and N macrophylla were also used to determine the genetic relatedness between N cadamba and N macrophylla. Based on cluster analysis, N cadamba and N macrophylla were grouped into four major clusters, suggesting that the species are distantly related species.
