Abstract

An automatic cat pet feeder is provided which when set to go off at predetermined time will automatically release food into tray for a pet to eat. Its architecture structure includes an elongated vertical housing enclosing a hopper in the upper portion thereof. Its lower end is the funnel rectangular outlet hole. A v-shaped dry food tray valve below the outlet prevents the dry pellet particular feed from being released. The v-shaped dry food tray valve rotatory movement is servo motor-operated with timer that functions to selects the time of the day for feeding. This is regulated by a predetermined setting the v-shaped food tray remains open for large or small pets’ needs. The feed delivery system is housed in a container made from recycled corrugated paperboards which in turn when in operation directs dry pellet particular feed to the exterior of the feeder into a feed dish bowl. The main objective of conducting this research is to build the feeding system special for home cat pet by using the recycled corrugated paperboard as main material for its housing and program the system using Arduino Uno as its central processing unit (CPU) which function to control a RTC timer (Real Time Clock), servo moto and LCD display. This system enable cat owners to feed their pets remotely by dispensing a sufficient amount of dry animal food while they are away. For many pet owners, this is essential operation that they are not in capability to fulfill. This buildable low-cost cat pet feeder will give pet owners a solution to this problem, thereby it can improved productivity of both pets and the owners. Thus, this project provide an alternative idea to help cat pet owners to build one for their pets instead of purchasing very expensive yet fancy feeder. Why buy it when you can build it one on your own? At the end of the project, the price comparison between these both buildable cat feeder and current cat feeder products which available in market is made to ensure that the choice of building it rather than buying it is the most correct decision to make. Other than that, a lot of learning on fabricating and programming works had been done to develop this feeding system so that they can function in stable way.
