Abstract

This study aims to examine the symbolism of the Kampung Lam mosque. Mosque as a place of worship and religious education among Muslim Malays have become a very important feature of everyday life to say that the mosque has a close relationship with the taste of culture and religion. The objective of the study contained are (i) identify the forms of Kampung Laut mosque carving motifs, (Ii) to review the forms of symbols thal appear in Kampung Lout mosque, (iiI) analyze the concept of space in Kamplung Laut mosque. This study uses qualitative methods, through observation and interviews. The results showed that the mosque as a symbol of Islam. In the construction of mosque motives of each parts of the building standa Out with Its Islamic identity is expressed ill the form of carved symbols such as the fox fence, show the sky, were flat, slat ion latitude, and,so on verandah.
