Abstract

The study on the ecology of CryptocOIYlle ~ purpurea Ridley from Sungai Stungkor was conducted at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNlMAS) campus. Samples were collected from Sungai Stungkor, Lundu, Sarawak where the only occurrence of C. purpurea to detennine the possible mother plant of the species l which are C. cordata val' zonata and C. purpureo. The species were found at Sungai Tapah, Lundu. The possible mother plant was detennined by the similarities in the morphological characteristics such as the inflorescence, the leaves and the reproductive parts. Five quadrate of I m X I m were established in the Sungai Stungkor and Sungai Tapah to detetmine the biomass allocation. The soil analysis of the study area also conducted.
