Abstract

High latency network plays an important role in bridging the digital divide in today's telecommunication world. Due to its cost-effectiveness and ease of deployment, high latency network is widely used for rural and remote communications, especially when other wired technologies are practically impossible and unsuitable due to geographical distance or accessibility. However, high latency network has two main limitations, which are low bandwidth and high delay. One good example of high latency network is VSAT satellite network. Since the VSAT satellite channel are widely used for real-time interactive multimedia applications that require relatively high bandwidth, this have led to greater demand for network bandwidth and improved transmission efficiency for such technology.
