Abstract

The present study was to identify student's perception on the effectiveness of social media networking system as a learning tool based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). This study also seeks to identify the social network that are often used by students and how often per day students use the social media networking system. Besides that, the relationship between the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the used of social media networking system was also investigated in this study. The respondents for these study consists of 100 students from University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). A questionnaire by Wiid et al. (2014) was administered to achieve the objectives of this study. The result from this study showed that students' perception towards social media was easy to used while perceived ease of use factor towards social media was not important. Majority from the respondents choose Whatsapp as a social media to help them in their study for sharing their ideas and material. As a conclusion, students' perception towards uses of social media as a learning tool was easy to learn and as a medium to used in order to do some discussion among them.
