Abstract

This project is about the investigation of new materials and techniques for electromagnetic waves absorption. The purpose of this project is to design a hollow pyramidal absorber which is easy and simple to produce, durable, low cost and with high performance. It is designed to function at frequency range from 1 GHz to 15GHz. The absorber is designed and simulated using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software to study their performances. The parameters of the absorber are first simulated to obtain the best absorption rate. After that, the parameters obtained are used to investigate the combination of the absorber body with the paper mixed with carbon as material and the base of absorber is loaded with different materials. The simulation of the absorber was done to determine its performances. The best absorption rate of the combination of absorber body made from paper mixed with carbon and the base with material is determined. The major feature of the absorber in this project is of high absorption rate of electromagnetic waves and easy to be fabricated using low cost recycles materials.
